Property Damages by Snow Removal Contractor
Policy for Contractor Damage Claims, By-Law Article V Sections 2-4 (Page 18 of 67)
In the event that a contractor hired by the Northview Association Board does any damage to a homeowners property when the work is being done, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to bring this to the Boards attention in writing with pictures within 30 days of the event. It is the Board's responsibility to ensure that the contractor has liability insurance prior to hiring them. For snow removal it is the homeowners responsibility to bring this to the attention of the Board in writing with pictures no later than April 15th. The Board will then discuss the damage with the contractor and make arrangements for the damage to be repaired. The homeowner in collaboration with a board member and the contractor should work together to ensure that the damages are repaired to the homeowners satisfaction. Should the homeowner prefer to contract with someone other than the contractor who did the damage, they must obtain 2 bids and work with the Board to negotiate a settlement should the bids be higher than what it would cost for the original contractor to repair the damages.
